I’ve seen a large amount of folks on the forums debating holster options for their new-production (and old) Colt Anaconda. As a somewhat specialized (and humongous) firearm, you generally can’t just skip on down to Vedder Holsters, order a kydex IWB, and have it at your doorstep in three days. In an effort to be of service to the Anaconda, my favorite firearm, I took it upon myself to selflessly assemble a complete list of (nearly) every Colt Anaconda holster currently on the market.
Bone apple tea.
One small note if you’re in the market — the hive mind says that the post-2021 Anacondas are different from the original production models to the point that holsters made for the originals will not fit the new productions guns. Be sure to double-check this before ordering. Also, compatibility may vary based on the barrel length of your firearm.
I am also leaving out generic, Uncle Mike’s-style nylon holsters from this list, and all of the trash on Amazon that isn’t even worthy of being called a holster (although you can still find a few of the high-quality ones below for sale there).

Diamond D Custom Leather & Diamond D Outdoors
These folks up in Alaska also create synthetic-material holsters under the Diamond D Outdoors brand, which provides the same high quality they’re known for at reduced price and greater off-the-shelf availability, at the expense of a more “generic fit” on the gun.
Gunfighters Inc.
It looks like GFI is building out their Amazon store, so if you’re interested in purchasing a holster from them, you might want to check there first to see if they have what you need in stock and skip the long lead time for custom holster orders.
Simply Rugged Holsters
Craft Holsters
Craft Holsters offers a wide variety of holsters for the 6″ and 4.25″ Anacondas; I won’t include them all here for the sake of not driving myself insane, but you can visit their website and see which options will work best for you.
Barsony Holsters
If you are interested in nylon-based holsters, Barsony also offers a few other choices on their website beyond what is listed here.
- Vertical Shoulder Holster (or, find it on Amazon)
- 49er Western-Style Holster
- Cross Draw Holster
Bianchi
- Bianchi 111 Cyclone for long barrels (or, find it on Amazon)
DeSantis
- Wild Hog Hybrid (or, find it on Amazon)
- Dual Angle Hunter
Colt’s
El Paso Saddlery
Well-known for their beautiful period-correct holsters, many of their offerings can be made for the Anaconda. Here are a few that can fit “most double actions,” but if you are in the market their website is worth perusing closely.
Galco
Currently, Galco offers two models that fit the Anaconda. They’re always a top choice for me as they marry high build quality with “not six month lead times” like a lot of other manufacturers do. The DAO is a good option if you like crossdraw holsters, which are cool and handy if you spend a lot of time on horseback.
- Big Iron Belt Holster (or, find it on Amazon)
- DAO Strongside/Crossdraw Belt Holster (or, find it on Amazon)
Conclusion
There’s never a “right” or “best” holster design; it’s completely depended on the needs, physiology, and preferences of the end user. I make use a of a variety of holsters from some of the above makers based on what I’m doing; a Diamond D hip holster when I camp, and a chest rig while hunting. You’ll probably end up with an arsenal of the above holsters… the right tool for the right job.
The most important piece of advice? Carry your gun in whatever you have available to you. Make adjustments if you need, but — Carry. Your. Gun. The Colt Anaconda is a fine revolver for self-defense and hunting, but if you leave it at home it’ll do you no good.
Ed. Note – it seems possible that this list is missing something that should be included – if that’s the case, send us a note and we’ll get it added, stat.
