Every Holster Option For Your Colt Anaconda

I’ve seen a large amount of folks on the forums debating holster options for their new-production (and old) Colt Anaconda. As a somewhat specialized (and humongous) firearm, you generally can’t just skip on down to Vedder Holsters, order a kydex IWB, and have it at your doorstep in three days. In an effort to be of service to the Anaconda, my favorite firearm, I took it upon myself to selflessly assemble a complete list of (nearly) every Colt Anaconda holster currently on the market.

Bone apple tea.

One small note if you’re in the market — the hive mind says that the post-2021 Anacondas are different from the original production models to the point that holsters made for the originals will not fit the new productions guns. Be sure to double-check this before ordering. Also, compatibility may vary based on the barrel length of your firearm. I am also leaving out generic, Uncle Mike’s-style nylon holsters from this list.

Diamond D Custom Leather

  • Guide’s Choice Chest Holster
  • Alaska Hunter Hip Holster (my favorite)

Gunfighters Inc.

  • Kenai Chest Holster (read our review)
  • Bino-Link Holster
  • Tackle Link Holster

Simply Rugged Holsters

  • Loaded Pancake
  • Sourdough Pancake
  • Eldorado
  • 240

Craft Holsters

Craft Holsters offers a wide variety of holsters for the 6″ and 4.25″ Anacondas; I won’t include them all here for the sake of not driving myself insane, but you can visit their website and see which options will work best for you.

  • Cross Draw Holster
  • IWB
  • Open-Muzzle IWB
  • Shoulder Holster System
  • Small of Back

Barsony Holsters

If you are interested in nylon-based holsters, Barsony also offers a few other choices on their website beyond what is listed here.

  • Vertical Shoulder Holster
  • 49er Western-Style Holster
  • Cross Draw Holster

Bianchi

  • Bianchi 111 Cyclone for long barrels

DeSantis

  • Wild Hog Hybrid
  • Dual Angle Hunter

Colt’s

  • OWB Holster for 4.25″ Anacondas

El Paso Saddlery

Well-known for their beautiful period-correct holsters, many of their offerings can be made for the Anaconda. Here are a few that can fit “most double actions,” but if you are in the market their website is worth perusing closely.

  • 1920 Crossdraw
  • #5 Patton
  • 1930 “Austin”

Conclusion

There’s never a “right” or “best” holster design; it’s completely depended on the needs, physiology, and preferences of the end user. I make use a of a variety of holsters from some of the above makers based on what I’m doing; a Diamond D hip holster when I camp, and a chest rig while hunting. You’ll probably end up with an arsenal of the above holsters… the right tool for the right job.

The most important piece of advice? Carry your gun in whatever you have available to you. Make adjustments if you need, but — Carry. Your. Gun. The Colt Anaconda is a fine revolver for self-defense and hunting, but if you leave it at home it’ll do you no good.

Ed. Note – it seems possible that this list is missing something that should be included – if that’s the case, send us a note and we’ll get it added, stat.
